Research article explaining that OFA testing does not lead to puppies without hip dysplasia. 18.8%-72.9% of puppies with two parents with OFA good hips had hip dysplasia in the studies.
Health effects of early Spay/Neutering: This article reviews the reasons for early spay/neutering and some of the adverse results and benefits. The study shows that early spay/neutering leads to increased hip and elbow dysplasia.

Cancer: This article outlines our understanding of cancer and the rates in Golden Retrievers. There is an interesting piece on the differences between the English lines (UKC) and the American lines that explains in part why English Golden Retrievers have a lower cancer rate.
Ichthyosis: We have had one incidence of this in our puppies from a pair that never bred again so I thought that owners should recognize the signs of this genetic disorder.
Explanation of the differences between the English Golden Retriever Bloodlines and the American bloodlines. This gives a good, brief explanation for some of the misunderstandings between the various types of Golden Retrievers.

This site explains that all Golden Retrievers have the same bloodlines. It is accurate in that all of these dogs are part of the Golden Retriever blood lines. What it does not explain is that the separate breeding standards between the United Kingdom and America has created differences. Other articles will demonstrate this. This is a survey of dog trainers on their experiences training 79 varieties of dogs. Golden Retriever is #4 on the first list that requires between 1-5 repetitions of new commands for them to understand with a 95% or better obedience rate.
