6 Weeks 5 Days
This is another big week for our puppies. They begin crate training in preparation for their transition to their new homes. They have been microchipped, gotten their first round of shots, and had their first full deworming as well. Their personalities are continuing to develop. As a group they are very friendly and love to be with us. This will be our last post and we will be preparing them for their new homes. They have been an incredible delight and I will miss my time with them!

Click on the above links for the results of the personality tests. I will highlight some of the responses. First, all ten puppies have identical responses for the first five parts of the test. All follow me, come to me, are completely relaxed in an upright held position, completely relaxed when put on their backs and restrained, and will sit indefinitely when I place them at my side and pet them. Much of this is due to the early neurological stimulation and then conditioning that they go through. There are differences in their sensitivity to pinching, but most of them still have no response to this since I do something similar during conditioning. Fetching is a very difficult activity at this age. Holly had one of the quickest, best responses that I have ever had. You will also be able to see how responsive and curious the puppies are by their scores on the towel drag and umbrella tests. Almost all of the puppies responded to the sound test by stopping and looking. Again, we try to expose them to a lot of sounds so this is what I would expect.
Boy Puppies
Cedar
Adopted by Cara E.
Cedar was so excited to spend time alone with me today that I really struggled to get a good video of him playing or even sitting still. He was a real love bug and just wanted in my lap. Hopefully we can get a better video of him next time.
Weight: 7 pounds 8 oz.
Weight: 7 pounds 8 oz.
Juniper
Adopted by Molly F. and Anthony M.
Juniper is a big and beautiful puppy. Today he was laid back and just wanted to be nearby us while we went about our day. He is a real sweetheart.
Weight: 8 pounds 8 oz.
Weight: 8 pounds 8 oz.
Pine
Adopted by Larry B.
Pine's video is encoding unusually so I apologize for the sideways video. He was very explorative while by himself today. He wanted to know what all the things and all the smells were. It was really cute but also very difficult to get a good video since he was running around everywhere.
Weight: 6 pounds 12 oz.
Weight: 6 pounds 12 oz.
Sassafras
Adopted by Neal C.
Sassafras was snuggly and quiet today. He plays well with his littermates but prefers to have the toys to himself. Weight: 6 pounds 15 oz.
Spruce
Adopted by Katie C.
Spruce's video is exactly what I always hope to get with my pups but rarely achieve. This is the perfect example of what their individual play time often looks like, where there are no siblings to romp with. Since they are goldens, they often end up wanting to snuggle with us when they have us to themselves, so its hard to capture this. Enjoy the puppy wiggles!

Girl Puppies
Acacia
Adopted by Jocelyn S,
Acacia played hard just before her video so she's just resting here. I tried to get a good video of her playing with her toys but she was worn out, but she loves her toys.

Aspen
Adopted by Luke H.
Aspen spent a lot of her individual time exploring and playing with her toys. She didn't spend any time resting and her tail was wagging the entire time!
Weight: 6 pounds 1 oz.

Holly
Adopted by Robert G.
Holly is growing by leaps and bounds now. She is growing fast enough she just might catch up with her sisters. She is spunky and full of energy!
Weight: 4 pounds 6 oz.
Weight: 4 pounds 6 oz.
Magnolia
Adopted by Tricia H.
Magnolia enjoyed her time away from the litter but I think she was very happy to go back to them. She is very social and enjoys playing with her siblings.
Weight: 6 pounds 9 oz.
Weight: 6 pounds 9 oz.
Willow
Adopted by Jane S.
Willow looks darker than her siblings but she had developed a habit of sleeping in the food bowl and that stained her white fur. It is growing out and she will be as white as her siblings eventually. She is adventurous and loves to explore. Weight: 5 pounds 12 oz.
5 Weeks 2 Days
The puppies personalities are really starting to emerge. They will continue to do so this week, so be aware that some will change dramatically in the upcoming weeks. Overall, this group is quite active and playful. There are couple that are more relaxed, especially when we have them in our laps. All of them are very loving and want to spend time with us.

4 Weeks 1 Day
I have individual pictures for the puppies so that you can get your first glimpse of each puppy. However, they got their name tags today so I don't have any individual comments. I have weights for each puppy. Conditioning has gone excellent. Here is what I do for conditioning. 1) Pull tail 2) Rub fur backwards 3) Pull & twist ears 4) Hold muzzle shut for 5 seconds 5) Rub inside of mouth all around 6) Pinch between toes on all paws. We do this gently to start with and give them sour cream, which they love, after each action. Gradually, this grows to fairly significant pulls and twists. There are two purposes to these actions. First, we are preparing them to go to homes with little children (actions 1-3). Second, we are preparing them to go to the vet (actions 4-6). We have found this conditioning to be a difference maker. The puppies love sour cream and they really do become "conditioned" so that these actions elicit no response from them. They love us and it grows through these actions.

3 Weeks 5 Days
The puppies have changed so much in this last week. They are trying to romp around and play but their balance still isn't great so they end up rolling around. We introduced solids and water a couple of days ago and the pups dug in immediately. This is giving Kira some welcome relief since this is a large litter. She still spends all of her time with the puppies but they will need her less and less now. Our little girl is gaining weight and improving under veterinary care and her belly is constantly full and satisfied. She is so sweet! She has begun walking and trying to play with her littermates. We still make sure around the clock that she gets momma to herself for nursing to prevent competition issues.

2 Weeks 6 Days
All of the puppies are continuing to grow and develop. Our little puppy has had a cold for which she is being treated, so hopefully she will begin to catch up. The puppies still spend most of their time eating, sleeping and eating some more. Kira is super at the mothering part though we have had to work hard to make sure that our little girl gets to nurse every time. The puppies are getting to be super cute, so enjoy the pictures!
1 Week 6 Days
We have begun their neurological stimulation on the pups and they are doing well. As a group they are relaxed but their are a couple that look like they will be more active. They spend all of their time nursing or sleeping in a pile by Kira. They got their first baths today and were very vocal about it! Our little one continues to do well and we have been making sure she gets Momma all to herself often. All of the puppies are pictured, though in pairs. Good luck distinguishing them!
1 Week 1 Day
Kira's puppies continue to do really well. We have one female that is smaller, so there is still some risk for her, but we are making sure that she gets to nurse every time and she is active and continuing to grow. The puppies are crawling around quite a bit now but still stay very close together and close to their mother.
Day 5
Kira's puppies continue to grow and are all doing very well. At this stage they are simply eating and sleeping. We continue 24 hour supervision since it is really easy for a momma to lay on a puppy when there are so many! But she is doing well and hasn't given us any scares.
Day 1
Kira had 10 puppies yesterday, November 28. She had 5 boys and 5 girls. All are good sized and are eating well. Kira had an extremely fast labor and delivery. This is Excalibur's first litter so we are extremely happy because we love his looks and personality. Kira is doing well and is being a good mother. Hopefully, everything will go well during the next 2 weeks which is the most critical time.
