Rhea

Rhea is finally available! I have had many ask for her but we have held her for an extra 2 weeks to be certain that she had fully recovered. She continues to be incredibly loving and smart. She still has a slight staining from her earlier issue that has been getting lighter each week. We have a health clearance from our vet so she can be picked up any time.

Rhea is a sweetheart of a girl who has been held because she had an immature bladder. This past week she has not had any problems and so long as this continues and she gets her vet clearance, she will be available later this week. Rhea loves being with us (obvious in video) and is very affectionate. She has been living with Tizona's puppies and even nursed with them until they were weaned. She is very adaptable, smart, and is really cute.

Week 8 Day 1

Atlas

Atlas is very laid back and easy to work with. He enjoys being with us and is social. You will see a bit of his personality in these photos--he is happy and he wants to be right next to me.

Rhea-not available at this time

Rhea.is active and playful--she is full speed ahead in the pictures (these are some of the few that she wasn't moving in).  She is playful and loves her siblings. Rhea is going to need surgery and will be available after that has taken place and she has recovered.

Week 7 Day 4

This post is a bonus and I am writing in the general category for Adopted puppies and putting comments on the available puppies since a lot of the training is going to be very similar and their personalities have remained consistent with our previous observations. 

Leash Training: We have begun leash training. The puppies began a little unsure with the leash to start with and are now comfortable with them (they will play with it).  They already will stay with us with the leash in hand--much of this is because they want to be next to us but it really makes leash training easy. 

​Crate Training: Crate training has been going fantastic.  They are at 7 1/2 hours (from 9:30 to 5:00 in the morning) with no accidents. That will make house training much easier!

Week 7 Day 1

The puppies are getting more and more beautiful with each round of pictures and videos. What I have noticed most is that this is one of the friendliest groups of puppies that I have ever had. They love to be with us and will take in both petting and playing. They have a lot of personality, too. You will see that in the videos--they all are coming to me.  In a few videos (not posted) they follow Judy around in circles--it is really fun to watch. Enjoy!

Week 6 Day 5

The puppies are huge! When I look at them today and compare them to just 4 days ago it is unbelievable how much they have grown. They are big teddy bears.  Crate training has been going really well. We had one accident on both the first and second days and no accidents this morning. They seem to have already gotten the hang of this and know what to expect.

​I will be posting video as soon as my wife can figure out how to download video from her phone. Normally, I have taken the video, but today she did it on her phone. Hopefully, we can get those up tonight. Otherwise, I will plan on either getting them tomorrow morning or retaking them.

Week 6 Day 1

Puppies are being chosen today so be ready for updates throughout the day. They are cuter, friendlier, and just so much fun right now. They still go through their active and sleep cycle where they will play hard for 1/2 hour to an hour and then sleep for an hour. Personality test results are posted on my last week's entry, so if you want to see how they did, look back there.  The videos will show you a lot of similar personalities and it is exactly what we experience here.

Week 5 Day 6

 This is a big week for the puppies. The first puppies will be getting chosen today and by this weekend most will have their new homes. They are getting more and more active and have such personality! You will see in the videos below that their favorite place is with me. Keaton puts them down, jumps out of the video and then they start on their quick trips to me. Occasionally, they decide they would rather follow Keaton.  Their personalities are really very similar with just slight variations. Jupiter is the most friendly, Mercury is the most independent (and you will see that even that does not mean that he hangs out by himself--he still absolutely loves to be with us). Venus is playful. Rhea is tiny.  Several of the others are very balanced, making for fantastic puppies.

Week 5 Day 2

The puppies are doing really well. They continue to be active and playful. You will hear a lot of playing in the background of these videos. I was by myself today and it took me about 30 tries to get these videos--so hopefully you enjoy them as much as I did taking them. My biggest challenge was that there were multiple puppies in the videos and then, the puppy I was videoing would get to close to me. Still, I think you will see a lot more of their personalities and get a pretty good idea of what they look like. You will see that they are continuing to grow well, too.  The conditioned response training has been amazing. At this point, I can do most anything to/with them and they know it is love.  All of them love being held and I think that the conditioning has helped to grow that aspect in them.

Sometime this week I will be arranging the times for families to choose their puppies. I will also try to get the personality test up on Thursday, if everything goes as expected.

Week 4 Day 5

The stimulated response conditioning continues to go really well. All of the puppies have learned a lot already. All of the puppies enjoy the petting time at the end of the conditioning and are very sweet during it. (See below on Week 4 Day 1 comments for explanation of what we do). As a group, this is one of the most active, full of personality groups that I have had at this age. Generally, I only notice significant personality traits developing after week 5 but these guys were there at week 4. 

The puppies are continuing to grow well and are all eating more solid food than milk now. Belka is still with them most of the time but I have been able to have her away from the puppies for 2 or 3 hours without any difficulty. The pictures today are in front of my house at the bottom of our stairs.  Most were easy to take but a few puppies did the "run full speed at me" so I have mostly head shots for them. You should be able to get a pretty good idea of what they look like and fortunately (or not), they mostly look the same.  You will see some distinct features, though, and hopefully get an idea of their looks for them all. Week 4 Day 1

My individual comments are short because I have only had 2 days to observe them so here are some general observations for the past couple of days as well. The puppies love their bath time. They relax, enjoy the rubbing over their bodies and cuddle when they are being dried. They continue to be very sweet. They like to explore more now and will begin to develop their personalities a lot this week.

It is amazing to see how quickly they have adapted to our stimulated response conditioning. For this we do six activities and then give them a treat after each experience so that they become accustomed to them. Most of the activities are mildly uncomfortable, at the start, but are necessary (mostly) later in life. They are 1) gentle pull of the tail 2) scruff their backs 3) squeeze their ears 4) grab their muzzle 5) rub the inside of their mouth and teeth 6) squeeze their paws. The purpose of this is to help get them ready for grooming and for play that is rougher. Each time we do these things we give them a treat and already they enjoy the "games". That is exactly what we are looking for!

Week 3 Day 5

Names! We chose a solar theme for them. Atlas is also the name of my grandson so Atlas can play with Atlas. They continue to love being washed.  They just lay in the sink as if to say, "Pamper me!"  A few of the puppies were sleepy for our photo session today, but others enjoyed the new sensory environment and the rocks beneath their feet.  The flower plants were so tempting to sniff and play hide and seek in and I caught a few pictures of each- so much fun!  The puppies are now eating solid food regularly but continue to nurse as well. As a group they seem active and intelligent. We will post weights and individual comments on our next round--today they got their names so we can't distinguish their personalities yet.

Week 3 Day 1

The puppies are now very mobile and they eat solid food (sometimes). They are starting to explore, a little bit, but still like to stay pretty close to their mother. They had their first baths today and it seems they will be "melt in your hands" puppies. Most were completely relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  They are almost big enough for their individual name tags so hopefully, this Wednesday, we will be able to get pictures of each puppy. It is amazing to see how much bigger they are--Tizona just had puppies and Belka's are so much bigger, even though it has only been 3 weeks. This week they will begin their environmental stimulation training--where we expose them to different experiences that they may encounter later to get them accustomed to being comfortable no matter what comes their way. I have 10 pictures because they were so cute I just could not help but put these all on. Enjoy!

Week 2 Day 1

This was a big week of growth for the puppies. Their eyes are open, they crawl (a little bit) and they have grown a lot! They are happy and spend most of their day sleeping and the rest of it eating. Very occasionally, I will have a puppy who crawls around looking for mommy.  They have beautiful coats and look like they are going to have nice, wide muzzles. And they are loving. They already melt in our hands during the neurological stimulation, which is a really good sign. My son always loves to show me the puppies that are laying in his hands, belly up and completely relaxed. Hopefully, by the middle of their third week, I will have individual names and will begin the pictures of each puppy.

Week 1 Day 1

Belka continues to be very comfortable with being a mother. She loves all of the attention and has been very good at caring for her puppies. It was harder to get good pictures of her puppies this time because Belka licks them all the time so their fur looks all slicked up. The puppies are growing and moving around a lot. They can scoot to their mother now. Also, they have mostly changed skin color on their paws and noses. Most already have changed to black, but there are still some cute pink patches. The puppies is fairly even is size with one being a bit smaller. They are already really cute and look like they will have nice wide faces. Neurological stimulation is underway.

Week 0

Day 4

This was a big day for the puppies--they got their dewclaws removed. The 10 puppies are all doing really well. They are active, nurse well, and are soaking up their mother's love. Belka has been a fantastic mother. She lines her puppies up and is making sure that everyone is getting a chance to eat. She is very confident--she has no problem going outside for her potty breaks--which a problem for some new mothers. Sadly, we did lose the tiny puppy this morning.

 Belka and the puppies are doing great.  She has been nursing them and is extremely happy.  She is also enjoying all the extra attention.  We have 10 puppies plus 1.  The ten are 6 boys and 4 girls.  We also have a small one that we are working with that is a girl--so yes, there are 11.  She has not been able to latch on yet but we are hopeful that with some extra care, she will figure it out soon.  The rest of the puppies look really good and are eating well-though they don't get much milk yet.  

Day 1

I woke up at 4:30 this morning to go to my dog show for Rhiannon (she got the highest level of championship available) and was greeted by puppies! There are eleven of them--I have it posted at 10 because there is a small one that has not yet been able to latch on--despite my daughter working with her for an hour.  My quick look through showed 4 girls and 6 boys.  I will recheck that carefully after I get a nap in.  My son is on puppy duty for now.  What an exciting day--champion female and puppies doing well when I got back.  I will try to take pictures and post them when I wake up also.
